Fall!

Here in NY, the changing of the leaves is in full effect. Summer’s end seems so far in the past. And it dawned on me that there have been a number of wonderful projects ending as well.

A week ago I had the privilege of recording yet another DVD commentary session for HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. As a huge fan of the show, I am always delighted when I get booked on these. But what I didn’t realize until the clients arrived, was that this would be the series finale episode- and also the last time (barring award shows no doubt) that this insanely talented crew would be together! This is it. The end of the road for this fantastic show, every frame of which could stand as it’s own piece of art. Terrence Winter, Howard Korder, Steve Buscemi and Tim Van Patten have created a masterpiece. Even with the sound down on the actual episode audio (we need to focus on what the guys in the BOOTH are saying), I was completely drawn into the big finale.

A week before that, I handled some ADR work with Lucy Liu for Disney’s newest Tinkerbell installment, “Legend of the Neverbeast”. What I didn’t know until I arrived on that Sunday afternoon was that this was to be the last session for the film- and possibly the last session for the whole franchise! We're all hoping that's not true. I previously handled recording and ADR work for the rest of these movies- going back to before my daughter was even born! And now I get to play the movies at home and watch her smiles and reactions to the final product.

And then just this week, I handled an ADR session for another cartoon that is coming to a close… and it was… for the third time this fall- the last session for the last episode of THAT project (which I can’t mention specifically).

But just as sure as Spring will come and all the leaves will return- so too will the next round of cartoons, movies and commentary sessions. And I look forward to each and every one of them!

Thanks for reading!
